Plustek Opticfilm 8100 Handheld, Film and Imaging Scanner
I had been using an Epson Masterpiece flatbed scanner for my prints AND slides for many years and the results on many images are perfectly acceptable and even impressive for the cost, but I have wanted a dedicated slide scanner for some time.

Get an easier to use scanner, not this one
First, let me say that I've had a number of scanners over the years, and I did extensive comparative research prior to purchasing the Plustek 8100.

Good manual system for digitizing 35mm slides
Does the job one slide at a time.

A good scanner with a good price
This scanner has an impressive array of pre-scan tweaks that might eliminate any need for post-scan editing, however I still prefer to handle this post-scan.

No support for older scanner
I bought a Plustek film scanner, OpticFilm 7300, several years ago and it worked fine on my old Windows XP.
